MS Clinical Psychology

Program Description

The MS Clinical Psychology program, introduced in 2024, is the flagship offering of the Department of Psychology at GIFT University. Aligned with the university’s vision of transforming knowledge into entrepreneurship, this two-year full-time postgraduate program (equivalent to 18 years of education) prepares students to become skilled clinical psychologists with the knowledge and practical skills to innovate in mental health care.

The program emphasizes key areas such as psychological assessment, therapeutic interventions (including CBT, BT, and REBT), and clinical research. Students gain hands-on experience working with diverse populations, including children with special needs, adult psychiatric patients, school children and individuals struggling with substance abuse.

Scope

Graduates of the MS Clinical Psychology program will meet the minimum requirements to be recognized as clinical psychologists in Pakistan. To achieve international standards for independent practice, they are encouraged to pursue an additional two years of supervised training or relevant job experience.

Career Path

Graduates will be ready for careers in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and private practice. They can also engage in research, contribute to mental health policy, or start their own practices, reflecting the entrepreneurial spirit fostered by GIFT University.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the MS Clinical Psychology program at GIFT University, candidates must meet the following academic qualifications:

  • A MSc/BS (Hons) in Psychology with at least 60% marks in an annual examination or a 2.50/4.00 CGPA from an HEC recognized institution.

In addition to the academic requirements, applicants must also:

  • Pass the GAT (General) Test with a minimum score of 50%.
  • Successfully complete an interview as part of the admission process.
